Arthritis

Arthritis is the swelling, stiffness and tenderness of one or more joints. It is a condition that typically worsens with age. The two most recurring forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.


Osteoarthritis is the breakdown of cartilage, the tissue that protects the ends of bones where they form a joint. The less cartilage in a joint, the more likely the bones will painfully rub together.


Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition in which the immune system attacks the joints. It starts in the lining of the joints, causing inflammation.


Symptoms of Arthritis:

  • Joint pain.
  • Skin discoloration.
  • Swelling.
  • Joint sensitivity.
  • Joint heat or warmth.
  • Weakness.
  • Stiffness.
  • Reduced motion.

Depression

What is Depression?

Depression, or depressive disorder, is a common but serious mental condition in which a person experiences a downcast mood or loss of enjoyment in activities for an extended period of time.

It is distinguished from everyday emotions because of its tendency to negatively impact all aspects of a person’s daily life, such as relationships, career and self care.

Symptoms of Depression:

  • Sadness.
  • Loss of interest.
  • Irritability.
  • Appetite changes.
  • Tiredness.
  • Slowed speech.
  • Difficulty concentrating.
  • Self-harm.
  • Suicidal ideations.

Diabetes

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the body is deficient in the hormone insulin, leading to high blood sugar and damage to the body’s systems. The two main types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2.

Type 1 diabetes is a condition in which the body’s immune system destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or the body’s cells respond abnormally to the hormone.

Symptoms of Diabetes:

 

  • Feeling thirsty.
  • Frequent urination.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Fatigue.
  • Numbness.
  • Tiredness.
  • Weight loss.



Heart Disease

What is Heart Disease?

Heart disease is a term that applies to a variety of heart conditions. These include irregular heartbeats, congenital heart defects, a disease of the heart muscle, blood vessel disease, and heart valve disease.

These diseases all involve abnormalities in blood flow, the heart, and its functions. For example, coronary heart disease is the buildup of fat in the arteries, reducing the heart’s ability to pump blood to the different parts of the body.

Symptoms of Heart Disease:

  • Chest pain.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Artery pain.
  • Numbness.
  • Fainting.
  • Dizziness.
  • Fast heartbeat.
  • Slowed heartbeat.
  • Blue skin.
  • Swelling.

Hypertension

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a condition in which blood flows through the body’s arteries with a force that is higher than normal. This means that the heart is working harder to pump blood throughout the body.

Hypertension is common and shows few symptoms, but is a serious concern. If left untreated, high blood pressure can lead to health emergencies such as a heart attack or stroke.

Symptoms of Hypertension:

 

  • Nosebleeds.
  • Headaches.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Dizziness.
  • Fatigue.
  • Chest pain.

Lung Disease

What is Lung Disease?

Lung disease is a term used to refer to a variety of conditions that prevent the lungs from functioning properly. These include infections, airway diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and asthma.

COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, This is a classification of lung diseases that cause irreversible damage to a person’s lungs and airways, obstructing them and making it difficult to breathe.

 

Symptoms of Lung Disease:

  • Chronic cough.
  • Chest pain.
  • Coughing up blood.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Mucus production.

Obesity

What is Obesity?

Obesity is a disease caused by inherited, psychological, and environmental factors in which a person accumulates too much body fat.

Obesity is more than simply a cosmetic issue; a person living with this condition is more likely to suffer from cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and sleep apnea.

  • Snoring.
  • Trouble sleeping.
  • Swelling in legs.
  • Varicose veins.
